Speaking of "spiral bound," a while back I saw illustrator/comic book artist Aaron Ranier talk. A couple of weeks later, I was in the Giant Robot store, which didn't have the 'zine I was looking for, but then I noticed a book with a cover in a now-familiar style: it was Ranier's "Spiral-Bound." I picked up a copy, and it was a fun read. I guess it's young adult fiction: the protagonists are young anthropomorphic animals. They seem to be budding hipsters: one is an artist struggling to find an appropriate means of expression; another is a reporter for an underground newspaper... But if you can get past that, there's a sweet little story lurking underneath.
