These Parker comics are retro noir crime fiction. The retro's all over the art. It looks like graphics from ads from the early 60s. The violence and the menace of violence is all over the place. Combined with the old-style art, it's, like, uhm, anti-nostalgia. I kinda get the impression it's a good thing I wasn't around back then, or else I would have been killed by mobsters at least three times by now, plus once more by independent criminals. It's a pretty comic, but you don't want to think about the plot too hard or you'll burst into tears. Sometimes it's tough to see the art clearly because you're covering up your eyes and wondering when these brutal people are going to stop shooting and stabbing each other.
