Back in 1998, some PBS folks made a TV documentary about the internet, "Nerds 2.01". TV isn't a great medium for this stuff—humming computers don't make great television. So there's footage of... a baseball game at 3Com park, a short-order chef cooking pancakes, movers, a construction site... Watching one of these things, you can feel your life ticking away. The book's easier to take; it doesn't need to stretch its story in order to find footage-friendly topics.
