It's by a civil engineer from a few decades back, so you might think that a software developer wouldn't learn anything from this memoir. But there's wisdom in here—figuring out how to get along with people (even Thai people), recognizing when your project is doomed, getting through school... Also, a glimpse at the start of protest culture as it drifted away from actual useful protesting. E.g., folks protest a proposed nuclear power plant because it's not earthquake-safe... but the proposed site isn't actually earthquake-prone.
