We arrived at this site at the same time as a couple of other teams. Let's say that they were Blinded By Science and Here Be Dragons, though I'm not so sure about the second of those. Here, a bewhiskered Taftian said that one of us was going to present charades to the rest. Someone volunteered. The bewhiskered Taftian whispered the first word into the volunteer's ear. The volunteer thought a bit.
Then he sprinted towards a tree. The guesses started: "Running?" "Sprint?" A couple of guessers had been thinking about the Four Hallowed Languages and guessed "Dash?" That was it.
The bewhiskered Taftian whispered the next word to the charadist who started making some strange way-slicing hand gestures. "Dot?" someone guessed, hopefully. It wasn't "dot." After a few guesses, someone guessed "Divide?" and that was it.
All of the succeeding words were names of typographical marks. All of those marks consisted of lines and dots--like Morse code.
— | ÷ | ; | ! | … | = | : | - |
_ | ._. | ._ | _. | ... | _ _ | .. | _ |
T | R | A | N | S | M | I | T |
We entered this word into our PDA, it told us to tell the Taftian, and soon we were on our way to Sproul Plaza. Wait, wasn't this puzzle over yet? We'd used all four hallowed languages.
