WashDC 2004: Almost-Unhonored Coupon

When I showed this coupon to the lady in the lobby Starbucks, she said it was only good for espresso drinks, not for the drip coffee I'd ordered. So I said OK, whatever, I'll pay full price. And then she relented and said that she'd give me the discount anyhow. And when I looked at another coupon, it sure looked like it should have covered my coffee purchase, unless Starbucks no longer offers drip coffee.

Is this how she helps returning politicos to feel at home? Present them with a simple injustice to rally against? Get their blood up in the morning? She looked so disappointed when I didn't argue with her.
