Japanese Music: Ska Rockets

From the "Who asked You?" Department, it's my opinion of The Ska Rockets.

What I've heard:
"Ska Challenger" (album, ??Groovin Music Publishers??)
Gross Generalization:
Slow Ska
Rambling:
This was a soporific album. It was ska, but it was too slow for my tastes. They have a good horn section, so it's not like they're irredeemably awful. Could this album have been reggae? I don't know. I don't want to listen to this album again.

But alert reader Kawahara Daisuke says that their second album, "Mood for Freedom" is much better. An excerpt of his mail:

Their music vary from tune to tune in ["Mood for Freedom"]. It contains a fast-jazzlike-tune, some passionate-or-delightful-classical-ska, a bossanovalike-music, a reggae-or-dub-tune, a cover of Japanese old song and so on. And ska rockets' skill is extremely progressed enough to give you some of contentment. Listening to these tunes, you can't feel sleepy.

(The full text of his mail is in the comments section.)

It's good to read that they aren't wasting their talents. Now I want to get that album.
