I walked past a storefront near 33rd Ave and Judah and saw some big Braille out of the corner of my eye. I snapped a hasty pic through the window, but didn't try to get a better one—inside the shop, the proprietor's dog was going insane, barking at this lurking behemoth over-interested in those wall-bumps. The proprietor was mortified.
I was hoping for a hidden message. But now that I'm home and can look at the picture, I see this wasn't a complex message. It's just a repeated panel. On each panel, is the same Braille, seemingly sideways. ⠝⠵⠻ and then flipped upside down ⠷⠫⠮
I don't know enough Braille to get a message out of those three characters, if there is a message. To me, it looks like N Z (mirror-flipped Q), but all I know is the English alphabet; those same Braille characters are used in other languages to mean other things.
But the fact that those panels were installed sideways makes me think there isn't a message after all, in which case, I'm glad I didn't stick around trying to solve this "puzzle" long enough to ruin that dog's day.
[Updated to add:] I should just have googled [wall panel braille decorative] first thing, I found 'em right away: https://inhabitliving.com/products/braille-paintable-wall-flats-3d-wall-panel-hanging-system "Inhabit 3D wall panels are lightweight and work together through an automatic pattern repeat to create large-scale dimensional walls of any size and shape. Wall Flats work in multiples to create a continuous, uninterrupted dimensional sculptural wall."
Yeah, I'm getting a strong "We just thought it looks nice" vibe.
