McGuffin Ho! Benched

Location: McCoppin Square

We arrived at McCoppin Square, close to San Francisco's Lincoln High School in the sleepy Sunset District which I called home. There was a baseball diamond. Using the bases as bases of a grid, game control had set out a grid array of tupperware containers. Each tupperware containers had blinking lights on top... and a letter? I think each container had a letter on top, too. The blinking lights suggested a valid path among the containers.

I didn't work on that. Instead, I sat on a bench and worked on the meta-puzzle. At each puzzle location, we'd picked up a few pages of a diary. Now I started figuring out how to put these diary pages into chronological order. This was somewhat complicated because the story involved a dimension-hopping time traveler who could transcend our plane to a sort of gray astral plane by means of certain puzzles and a pocketwatch and a diamond, pursued by mad cultists all the way, traveling to far-off lands.

My team-mates figured out the blinky lights just fine without me. I was kind of glad that I'd taken on the meta-puzzle. To get these pages in order, it helped to have one person with all of the details in his head. Then again, we never used the meta-puzzle, so perhaps I should have helped out with the blinky lights after all. Ah well. I chattered happily about gray interdimensional spaces to the team as we made our way to Inspiration Point in San Francisco's Presidio

Next: one of the Knights will show you the way[&gt];
