Location: Skyline and Keller
We drove through the hills. This might be a good time to mention: this year, instead of a 15-passenger van, we rented a 12-passenger van. It wasn't as roomy inside, but Alexandra said it was much easier to drive, much more stable. So we wanted to remember to stick with the 12-passenger vans in the future.
We picked up a Chinese take-out menu, a giant stereogram, and a mirror. The menu was rich in information: words, prices, a phone number. There were some typos on the last couple of pages, extra letters in the words. Putting those letters together revealed a message: "Order before heading to delivery location..." someone started dialing the menu phone number--"...forget about lunch until we deliver your dinner"
The phone call told us to skip the rest of the menu, skip the stereogram, and head out to a giant gear in some industrial neighborhood. We guessed that we'd taken too long for the previous puzzles; game control was skipping us over this one.
Looking at the menu, I can see that someone had already started looking at the lunch part of the menu: all of the prices were in the range $5.01 - $5.26, suggesting a substitution cipher.
If we'd arrived at this puzzle sooner, Game Control would have delivered dinner to us! Chris Lopez was taking orders on the phone.
