Anecdotal Evidence: Tenant: The Break-In

Excerpt from mail sent circa 1996:

I hear tell that the police kicked in my house's door today.

I may have mentioned that a few days ago, one of our house phone lines got knocked out by the rain. Today, it got fixed, and somehow 911 got dialed from it. Exactly how this happened is unclear.

I thought maybe someone had 911 as a quick-dial number on their phone and their phone got short-circuited by dripping water. But no-one thinks they have 911 on quick-dial.

Ron thinks it's just a side effect of the phone getting hooked up again.

Anyhow, a police officer apparently came up to our house, tried to get in, couldn't, and ended up kicking in our door. Wandering around, he spotted no emergency.

According to Ron, who went home to see what was going on (the officer found Rob's pager number on our message board, called the number, talked to Rob, who talked to Ron, who went home to find out what was going on), there's now some guy from the city fixing our front door.

I just can't wait to get home this evening to find out what else has burst/broken/been broken/rescued/whatever.
