I'd hoped to take a boat harbor tour. That didn't happen. There was a local boat that gave tours. The first day I showed up, it wasn't offering tours. It was windy; there were whitecaps. The second day, it canceled the first day tour so that it could act as a water taxi, ferrying a sailor of the Tall Ship Elissa out to Newport, where the Elissa was docked. (I guess.) It came back in the afternoon to take on tourists, but not for a harbor tour. This was Featherfest, a convention of birding enthusiasts. It was a big convention--my Seattle relatives knew a Seattlite who went to this thing, so you know it had a national draw. So the birders took over the boat. I don't feel like they stole my chance, though. I'm not sure the boat would have run a tour at all if not for the birders--there weren't many tourists in town.
