The post-hurricane damage was bad, but you could tell it had been worse. There were advertising signs up on utility poles. Insurance adjusters. "We buy homes for cash". Roofers, contractors. The signs all looked old, though. There were still a few debris piles, not many though. In one area you might see a knocked-over utility pole, some house siding, a cactus pad--and on top of that, more recent trash, litterbugs making the case for the "broken window" theory of assholery. But most places were cleaned up.
