Yosemite 2009: Not the Trail to Pohono Bridge

Not the Trail to Pohono Bridge

Across the road from Bridalveil Falls is the head of a trail to Pohono Bridge. At about the same spot, there's a dry creekbed or a wash or something. I convinced myself that this was the trail. And thus I found myself tromping around in what turned out to be not the trail at all. This is why preservationists don't want so many of us clueless tourists brought into Yosemite--we go off-trail and stomp on plants. Anyhow, I tried to find the trail. I thought I'd found it here, though it seemed strange that it was so blocked by fallen trees. This turned out to be something--maybe a storm drain system, covered with metal plates. I thought it might turn out to be some strange trail, and tried following it for a while, but it just led to the edge of the river, where it ended. I did eventually find the real trail, and hope I didn't destroy too much nature during my blundering sojourn.
