Excerpt from mail sent 2000:
Yesterday, there was a note slipped under my apartment door. It was from the building management: they now allow pets, if you kick in some extra rent. They seemed pretty eager about the extra rent part: it was per-pet. I wonder if they knew about all the ants that had somehow ended up in my bathroom.
Fortunately, the ants are gone now. I couldn't afford to keep them.
