Departures: Sailing

I've gone sailing a few times. My friend Piaw is usually the instigator, but not always.

2015 Vancouver/Sunshine Coast
Sailing on the catamaran Stray Cat along British Columbia's "Sunshine Coast". More adventure than we wanted, and we accidentally evaded the worst of it.
Kraken:
Nothing happened on the Raccoon Strait.
The Very Boring 2005 Sailing Travelog:
Less of a sailing description than a name-dropping funfest.
Sailing bits of the 2004 New Zealand Travelog:
When I went to New Zealand I sailed on the Manawanui in the Bay of Islands and on the NZL40 in Auckland.
The Very Boring 2002 Sailing Travelog:
I went sailing once in 2003 with Piaw and some of his Mirapoint friends. Piaw had been laid off, and was about to get a job at Google. It was a fun sail, but didn't result in any anecdotes. Sorry about that.
The Very Boring 2002 Sailing Travelog:
I went sailing once in 2002. Though two of the people on the boat ran an online dating service, they didn't spill any juicy gossip about their customers.
The Very Boring 2001 Sailing Travelog
I didn't do much sailing in 2001. There wasn't much to say. You probably want to skip this one.
(Reminder)
This isn't a travelogue at all. It's a short rant about protective gear.
2000 Sausalito
I did a lot of things in late October 2000, including a day sail. Actually, I didn't have much to say about the sail, and a lot about other things.
1999 Seattle/San Juan Islands
Sailing on the schooner Adventuress around the San Juan Islands. My first group-tour sail. My first sail without Piaw. Angst.
1998 Seattle/San Juan Islands/Victoria BC
Not just a week-long sail in the San Juan Islands, this trip also had a 24-hour train ride from the San Francisco bay area up to Seattle. The sailing part includes scary rocks, Canadian customs, and dangers of mooring without a boathook.
(Survival Swimming)
This isn't a travelogue at all. It's a short rant about the value of swimming skill in the context of sailing and kayaking.
1997 Channel Islands
My first multi-day sail. Includes a behind-the-scenes look at the internet gaming industry of the day, a mansion, and a heroic rescue.
1996 Tiburon
My first sail ever. Lovely San Francisco Bay. Landlubberly mistakes. Lunch. Pesky halyard woes.
